Getting Started

Whether you’re already using propane or you’re looking to start, it’s easy to become a North Shore Oil Company propane customer. Read about our 2-4 step process below and contact us at 315-676-4431 to get started today.

1. Credit Application: North Shore Oil Company offers automatic propane delivery for credit-approved customers only. To become a propane customer, first download and complete our residential credit application or commercial credit application, then mail it to 2634 State Route 49, West Monroe, NY 13167, or fax it to 315-668-6844. If you have any questions about the credit application, or if you’d like to have your application expedited, please call us at 315-676-4431 today.

2. Site Inspection: If you have a propane system on-site, we’ll ensure it’s operating safely, efficiently and effectively, and if it isn’t, we’ll recommend any necessary repairs or replacements at no obligation to you. If you don’t have a propane system on-site, we’ll analyze your property to determine your exact requirements and size up a system for your home or business.

3. Proposal: After we’ve completed our inspection and analysis, North Shore Oil Company will provide a proposal for your propane system installation. We’ll go over each aspect of our proposal with you directly, either over the phone or in person, so that you’ll know exactly what to expect from our service. At this point, we can also sign you up for a Budget Plan or Price Protection program.

4. Installation: The last step before we begin delivering propane to your home is the actual installation of the equipment described in our proposal. (Of course, if you don’t need a new system installed, you can skip this step.) North Shore Oil Company will have your system installed according to a schedule that’s convenient to you so that you can begin enjoying the benefits of our high-quality propane fueling as quickly as possible.

Safety Tips

Propane has an excellent safety record, but as is the case with any fuel, there are some risks involved with its use. At North Shore Oil Company, safety is our highest priority. With that in mind, please read and follow the important safety tips below.

  • Propane smells like rotten eggs. Make sure everyone in your family knows this smell. When you become a propane customer, we will educate you and provide additional vital safety materials to protect you and your family.

  • If you ever detect a propane leak on your premises, leave and call us and/or your local fire department IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT touch any electrical switches or outlets.

  • Know how to turn your tank off. This is a basic part of propane safety that we will teach you as soon as you become a customer. Also, be sure to know your appliances and gas lines. This is especially important in case you decide to do any digging, landscaping or remodeling on your property.

  • Any source of combustion can produce dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. As required by Amanda’s Law, you must have a functional carbon monoxide detector installed in a central location outside each sleeping area and entry level of your home. CO alarms should be replaced at least every five years.

  • Make sure all of your smoke detectors are functional. Test them once per week and change the batteries annually.
